Springs of South Central Texas: Gregg Eckhardt is an environmental scientist with 29 years of experience in environmental modeling and analysis, water resource planning and development, state and federal permitting, and water treatment. He is known as The Nerd King of South Texas Water History.  On March 10, he will describe San Antonio's colorful water history and the importance of Edwards Aquifer springs to the region's cultural and economic development.

The Sacred Springs of the Coahuiltecans: Dr. Mario Garza will share the Coahuiltecan's creation story and reveal how a 4,000-year-old rock painting documents the all-night ceremony of his Miakan-Garza people.  This painting contains all of the elements of their ceremony and confirms that it the ceremony is actually a recreation of their origination story.

A Celebration of Nature: Recital by pianists Duo AleAnya of Musical Bridges Around the World

Duo AleAnya (Alena Gorina and Anya Grokhovski) will perform a virtuoso program to include compositions by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Samuel Barber and many others. Gorina & Grokhovski are pianists with extensive concert experience as both soloists and chamber musicians who came together to share their love of piano ensemble repertory. Their programing is greatly influenced by their cultural and educational roots. Alena was born, raised, and educated in Belorussia (formerly, the Soviet Union) and Anya in Moscow, Russia. Needless to say, Russian music holds a special place in the hearts of Duo AleAnya. Both Alena and Anya hold doctoral degrees in piano performance; Alena from UT Austin and Anya from the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music in Moscow. Currently Alena is a lecturer at Texas State University, San Marcos and Anya is the Artistic Director of Musical Bridges Around the World, a non-profit cultural and educational organization based in San Antonio, Texas.

Voices of the Waters: Poetry & Prose Readings

Voices of the Waters brings together songs and stories from indigenous voices and works from environmental artists and activists to honor the Sacred Texas Springs. Readers from Stone in Steam/Roca en el Río and Kalpulli Ameyaltonal Tejaztlan will share their words, including Mobi Warren, Kamala Platt, Darby Riley, Marisol Cortez, Janice Rebecca Campbell, Toni Falls, D. Ellis Phelps, Jim LaVilla-Havelin, Laura Yohualtlahuiz Rios-Ramirez, and others. These readings are organized by Jim LaVilla-Havelin, Poetry Editor for the San Antonio Express-News and Coordinator of National Poetry Month in San Antonio.

Sr. Mary Henry, Director of the Heritage Center for the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, will speak before a lantern procession to the Blue Hole. Epifanio Hernandez of the Tehuan Band of Mission Indians will close the exhibit with a ceremonial blessing at the San Antonio Spring. Voices of the Waters is a National Poetry Month in San Antonio 2018 Event.
