HEADWATERS REFLECTIONS
Meditations for Headwaters Sanctuary
by Jay C. Collins
ISBN: 978-1-7355170-4-9
Headwaters Reflections by Jay C. Collins is a collection of meditations inspired by the author’s experiences as a long-time volunteer at the Headwaters Sanctuary at Incarnate Word located on 53 acres in the heart of San Antonio. The property is a riparian forest and includes the historic Blue Hole – head of the San Antonio River. It is an area that has been occupied for over 12,000 years and has a rich natural, cultural, historical, and spiritual history. The property adjoins the University of the Incarnate Word, but was established as a separate Earth Care ministry of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in 2005. The Congregation permanently protected the property with a conservation easement designation in 2020.
This collection of meditations is intended for a wide audience – from those with deep spiritual traditions to no religious affiliation at all. It includes the author’s own reflections, quotes and excerpts from other sources, prayers, poems, scripture, and historical sources. There are meditations related to the environment, local history, indigenous traditions, Catholic traditions, daily living, and spiritual growth. It is a great companion for those who like to spend time in nature.
This work is available for purchase at The Twig Book Shop in San Antonio, Texas, and online at Amazon.com.
All proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to the Headwaters Sanctuary, San Antonio, Texas.
